Bed and Breakfast in Prat De Comte, at Ken's place

The village of Prat de Comte is about 25 km from Tortosa. After leaving Tortosa follow signs for Gandesa with the River Ebre on your right hand side for approximately 10 km. After bypassing the village of Xerta, turn left into the mountains following signs for Prat de Comte and Horta St Joan. It takes approximately 25 minutes by car from Tortosa. We can pick up guests from the railway station in Tortosa at no extra cost however pick up from Barcelona or Reus airports will incur extra charges.

Our house is in a small traditional Catalan village surrounded by mountains and countryside. We have a double room (see photo) with adjacent bathroom (shared) We are mainly interested in guests who would like to improve their English by totally immersing themselves with us for 2 or 3 days whilst visiting this beautiful area. A new road connects the village to the nearby city of Tortosa and to the Els Ports Natural Park both within 20 minutes drive by car. Picasso spent two significant periods of his life in this region and there is a museum dedicated to him in the next village. Terra Alta is also a developing wine growing region and visits to bodegas are welcome. Outdoor activities and tourism are both important economic aspects of the area. The Costa Daurada, Delta Ebre and Reus airport are all within easy reach. Barcelona and Valencia are both within 2 hours by train.

Language courses (80 €)

Our house is approximately 100 years old and has been lovingly restored by local builders. It is in one of the main streets in the village. The village itself is hilly and not suitable for people who experience difficuly with mobility. There are four floors. The basement (formerly used to store the donkey and other livestock!!) contains washing/drying facilities, and is a general store for equipment, outdoor wear etc. The first floor consists of a double bedroom, bathroom with separate shower suite and office with computer, telephone, books etc all for use by the guests. On the third floor are the lounge/diner/kitchen with open fire and views of the mountains. The top floor consists of our private bedroom. There is an electric heater in the bedroom and bathroom (it does become very cold here during the winter months). All windows are double glazed. It is a very homely. cosy house .......not a hotel or hostel!!!
