Let a homestay room ?

Do you have a spare room in your house or in your flat?

Why not letting it to travellers, students, tourists, soak into the culture and share your own with these new exchanges while increasing your purchasing power?

This is a new trend and a good deal for both host and traveller. You can ask for a financial compensation in exchange of the accommodation provided and this will allow you to increase your purchasing power and meet new people…

Of course, this rental can be occasional (you let out your room or your accommodation in order to make extra money), in this case, the private status would be the best for you, or regular (this is your main business ex: guest houses, cottages, B&B, Riad, Casas rurales, unusual rentals…), then the public status would be the more adapted for you.

Booking procedure

1. Information exchange

The traveler and the host exchange information at each other through their Bedycasa Inbox.

2. Confidence set up: booking

Once confidence is set up and information exchanged, the traveler can specify the dates of his/her trip and the number of people concerned on the host’s profile by clicking on the ‘booking’ button. Bedycasa will display the total import of his/her rental along with the deposit he/she will to pay if necessary (for a private host status).

3. Deposit to block the booking at the host’s place with private status

If the traveler books the rental at a host’s place who has chosen the private status, he/she will need to pay a deposit of 15% to confirm the booking in case the host accepts it. This deposit will be deductible from the total amount of the rental. The traveler will need to pay the 85% left at his/her arrival. Nevertheless, if the rentals is referring to a host who has chosen the public status, then the traveler won’t need to pay any deposit.

4. Confirmation email

Bedycasa sends an email to the host to ask him/her to confirm the booking.

5. Contact details sent

Following the booking confirmation, the contact details of both parties (traveler/host) will be sent to each other. The contact details cannot be sent or asked before this booking confirmation (messages moderation).

6. Host and traveler assessment

At the end of the stay, Bedycasa will send a satisfactory questionnaire to both the traveler and the host so they assess at each other and allow other members to inform the best way possible about the accommodation. These assessments will generate the Community certification after 5 assessments granted by the members of Bedycasa.

What is a host family?

In our customs, a host family should necessarily be compounded of several members. Today this notion belongs to a bygone era: numerous single persons (men & women) are now hosting tourists so as to make their every day life more meaningful and rewarding.

As soon as you have one or more available bedrooms (following your child’s departure for i.e.), you can host. It is just for you a question of willing or not to open your door to a person who is eager to know your culture, your country and with whom you will take pleasure to share those differences.

What are the requirements that allow you to host ?

- Propose a part of your personal residence as the temporary lodging to the guest
- Be free of any criminal record
- Ensure that the lodging is located in a secure area
- Offer one or more clean and comfortable bedrooms; for more details, click here

- Include the breakfast in your service (at least, in option); for more details, click here
- Provide good state of furniture to your guest; for more details, click here
- Be respectful and courteous to your guest
Please, pay attention to this note!

Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction does not forbid anyone to host a third party at his/ her place (art 8-1 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms).

Recommendation

Registering at the Chamber of Commerce is not compulsory since this activity does not confer the commercial nature; however, it is highly recommended you ask for more details to the city hall of your residence.

In any case, Bedycasa would be responsible for the lack of registration of this activity.

Insurance

It is highly recommended to subscribe an insurance that would cover the possible damage that could cause your guest. In general, you just need to specify to your insurer that you run a Guest House. Don’t forget to point out any changes made for hosting (central heating, new rooms…).
