Description of the space proposed to travellers:
If you are an expat living in Lilongwe looking to spend a weekend at the Lake without spending exorbitant amounts of money at the resorts or if you are a backpacker looking to experience authentic Malawi then our Guest House is the perfect place for your stay.
Our Guest House is located in the village of Lifuwu right on the shores of Lake Malawi. We are only a 20 minute car ride or a beautiful hour walk along the Lake to the nearby Senga Bay resorts. As we are located in the closest proximity to Lake Malawi from Lilongwe, we offer an alternative to the busy and touristy Cape Maclear or Nkata Bay. Vacation at the Lake on a budget by visiting the nearby resorts and attractions in the area during the day, while staying at a reasonably priced and quiet place at the end of the day.
We offer an affordable and genuine adventure for guests looking for a culturally enriching experience. Explore the local community by visiting the market, rice fields, the fisherman’s wharf, and playing with the resident children in the Lake. Additionally, guests can visit our community projects within walking distance of the Guest House to gain insight into Malawi’s educational and health care systems.
Offered types of rooms: Dormitories with shared bathroom, Ensuite Private Room (double and single), Self-contained Private Cottage (double and single).
All of our rooms are fitted with mosquito nets and fans. Snacks and drinks (water/soda/beer) are always available for purchase in the living room. Internet access is available and can be purchased for a low fee. Laundry service is also available twice a week for a low fee.
Monday to Friday lunch is prepared and available for purchase (USD 2). We prepare a delicious mixture of local and 'Western' dishes.
